Fort Bend County votes cast, Nov 2026

138,859 ballots in Fort Bend County through the first five days of early voting (Oct 23), counting early votes and mail ballots returned. That is 1.6x the 2022 midterm at the same point and 88% of 2024. As of Oct 21, voters from the March Democratic primary cast 26.6% of early votes, against 20.8% in 2024.

Ballot counts are through Oct 23. Party and vote-history figures (party shares, the primary-lean map, "skipped 2024" and the party mix) are still as of Oct 21, because matching this year's voters to past elections takes an extra step that has not been redone yet.

Votes cast by day

Early votes in person and mail ballots returned, by date. 2022 and 2024 are lined up by days before Election Day, so each point compares the same stage of early voting (all three years started early voting on a Monday). The 2022 line is countywide only (the state's daily totals) and doesn't appear when a ZIP is selected. The county's mail list runs a day behind its early-vote list. Ballots by ZIP code

Hover or tap a ZIP for its numbers; tap again to filter the dashboard to it.

ZIP shapes are Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas, trimmed to the county line, with major freeways and tollways for reference, so ZIPs that cross into Harris, Brazoria, Waller or other counties show only their Fort Bend part. Fort Bend's lists show each voter's precinct but no address, so each precinct is placed in the ZIP where most of its addresses are; ZIP figures are close but not exact. 77099 has no shape on this Census map and appears in the table only. ZIPs with few ballots can show extreme shading.

Party mix, same point in each election

As of Oct 21. This section has not been updated since Oct 21; ballot counts elsewhere on the page are through Oct 23.

Ballots split by which party's primary the voter took that March. "No primary" means they skipped it, not that they're independent. All three years use the March 2026 primary, so the 2022 and 2024 bars show how this year's Democratic and Republican primary voters (and everyone else) were voting at the same point in those years. Voters who have moved away or died since then count as "No primary," most of all in 2022. Head counts follow each primary's size: in Fort Bend's early primary vote, Democrats outnumbered Republicans about 1.3 to 1. The state's primary lists leave out Election Day voters and mail ballots returned before early voting began, so mail voters' party is understated.

Each 2026 ballot matched by state voter ID to the Texas Secretary of State's Nov 2024 and Nov 2025 early-voting lists for Fort Bend. Those lists have no Election Day voters, so Election Day and not voting are one group. Bars compare early voters and mail voters.

How this was built

Sources: Fort Bend County's early-voting list through Oct 23, 2026 (the first five days of early voting) and its list of mail ballots returned through Oct 23, for the Nov 3 general, from the Elections Office's Early Voting Statistics page. Every record carries a state voter ID, a date and a voting precinct. A voter on both lists counts once, as an early voter. Mail ballots count once returned, whether the county has accepted them yet or not; cancelled ballots are left out. The day-1 count (31,743) is within 50 of the 31,793 check-ins the county reported.

Past elections come from the Texas Secretary of State's daily early-voting reports for Fort Bend, which list each early and mail voter by state voter ID and precinct: Nov 2022, Nov 2024 and Nov 2025 generals and the March 2026 primaries. Fort Bend takes its own past lists off its website. The state's 2022 and 2024 lists add up exactly to its published Fort Bend totals at the same point. These reports cover early and mail voting only, so "Election Day or didn't vote" can't be split, and "didn't vote early in 2024" includes people who voted on Election Day or moved here since. The matching was done on Steven David's own computer; only counts are published.

Fort Bend's lists have no addresses. Each voter is placed in the ZIP code where most of their precinct's addresses are, using the county's address-point file and precinct maps (2026 precincts for 2026; the 2022-2025 precincts for 2022 and 2024). About one precinct in five has at least a tenth of its addresses in a second ZIP, so ZIP figures are close rather than exact. In 77423 (Brookshire) the old and new precinct lines don't match up, so it has no comparison with past years.

Party is primary participation, not registration: the March 2026 Democratic and Republican primary lists from the Secretary of State. Texas has no party registration. Those lists cover early in-person voters and mail ballots returned from the first day of early voting, so Election Day primary voters and people who mailed their primary ballot earlier count as "no primary"; mail voters' party is understated most. The state's list for the first day of Democratic early voting has only 11 names, so a few thousand Democratic primary voters likely count as "no primary." All three years use the 2026 primary, so the 2022 and 2024 bars show the same people; anyone who has moved away or died since counts as "no primary." Fort Bend's lists carry no birth years, so there is no age breakdown. East Fort Bend is the 13 ZIPs mostly east of the Grand Parkway's line through Sugar Land (Sugar Land, Missouri City, Stafford, Mission Bend, Fresno, Arcola); the rest is West and south Fort Bend.
