Votes cast by day

Early votes in person and mail ballots returned, by date. 2022 and 2024 are lined up by days before Election Day, so each point compares the same stage of early voting (all three years started early voting on a Monday). Bexar's online roster archive starts in 2023, so the 2022 line is countywide only, from the Texas Secretary of State, and doesn't appear when a ZIP is selected. The newest day's mail count can be partial, since the county posts its list early the next morning. Hover or tap for each year's numbers.

Ballots by ZIP code

Hover or tap a ZIP for its numbers; tap again to filter the dashboard to it.

ZIP shapes are Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas, trimmed to the county line, with major freeways and tollways for reference, so ZIPs that cross into Comal, Guadalupe, Medina, Kendall or other counties show only their Bexar part. Bexar's rosters list each voter's precinct but no address, so each precinct is placed in the ZIP that holds most of its area; ZIP figures are close but not exact. ZIPs with few ballots can show extreme shading.

Party mix, same point in each election

Ballots split by which party's primary the voter took that March. "No primary" means they skipped it, not that they're independent. Head counts follow each primary's size: the 2026 Democratic primary in Bexar County was about twice the Republican one, while in 2024 the Republican primary was bigger. Bexar's 2026 primary mail list doesn't show party after Feb 10, so those voters take their 2024 primary party; about 1% of 2026 ballots come from mail primary voters with no party on record and count as "No primary." Bexar's 2022 rosters aren't online, so 2022 is left out.

Turnout against registration

Countywide early and mail ballots at the same point in each election, as a share of that year’s registered voters (Texas Secretary of State county tables). Registration grew 8% from 2022 to 2026, so raw ballot counts overstate the change in turnout by about that much. These three cards are countywide; the ZIP filter does not change them.

Who has shown up, by primary

Countywide, of the voters who took each party’s March primary, the share who had cast an early or mail ballot by this point. This is the cleaner enthusiasm measure: it does not depend on how big each primary was. In 2026 the Democratic primary was 2.0x the size of the Republican one, so Democratic head counts lead even where the two turn out at similar rates.

What past mixes produced

Countywide early and mail ballots at the same point in each election, by that year’s March primary, next to the county’s final result in the top race on the ballot (official canvass). Primary voters are a minority of every electorate and most “no primary” voters still lean one way, so the mix is a reference point against past results, not a forecast of this one. There is no 2022 mix because the county’s 2022 primary rosters are not posted.

How this was built

Sources: Bexar County's in-person early-voter lists for Oct 19 through Oct 26, 2026 (the first eight days of early voting) and its received-mail-ballot lists through Oct 26, for the Nov 3 general, from the Elections Department's Unofficial Branch Daily Register / EV Rosters. Every record carries a state voter ID and voting precinct. A voter on both lists counts once, as an early voter.

Bexar's lists have no addresses. Each voter is placed in the ZIP code that holds most of their precinct's area, using the county's 2026 precinct map (and its previous precinct map for 2024) and Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas. Most precincts sit almost entirely in one ZIP, but about 6% straddle two, so ZIP figures are close rather than exact. Countywide figures don't depend on this step.

Same-point comparisons line up each year by days before Election Day: early votes through the first eight days of early voting (Oct 26, 2026; Oct 28, 2024; Oct 31, 2022), plus mail ballots returned by that date. 2024 comes from the county's Nov 2024 early-voting, mail and Election Day rosters. Bexar's online roster archive begins in May 2023, so 2022 figures are countywide only, from the Texas Secretary of State's early-voting archive. The county's 2024 mail list counts about 3% more ballots returned by the same point than the state's archive, likely from how return dates are recorded. "Skipped 2024" means no record on any Nov 2024 roster, so it includes people who moved to Bexar County since.

Party is primary participation, not registration: the March 2024 and March 2026 primary rosters (early, mail and Election Day). Texas has no party registration. Bexar's 2026 primary mail lists posted after Feb 10 show no party, so those voters take their March 2024 primary party; about 1% of 2026 ballots come from mail primary voters with no party on record, counted as "No primary." Bexar's rosters carry no birth years, so there is no age breakdown. Party colors follow each party's logo: Democratic blue and Republican red.
